A barn consists of several individual stables overlooking a central alley, all under the same roof.  Horses can see what’s going on and get less bored than when in an isolated stable.  It is advisable to separate each stable with metal bars to enable the horses to communicate with each other.  It is also important for the barn to be well aired and to have ample lighting, whether daylight or electric.  This is the most practical solution to keep one’s horse in the dry and ready for work.  As long as it is turned out regularly, the horse accommodates to the situation without much difficulty.

Another solution is open stabling, where horses live together in a much larger space.  In this case, it is advisable to leave enough space for them to move around safely and to avoid creating tensions between each other.  It is ideal for foals, for example, since they learn to mix and socialise with their own species.  The best solution is to connect such open stabling to a paddock, thereby allowing the horses to either run loose or to stay under shelter.

The exerciser consists of a covered enclosure with a self-supporting hot-galvanized metallic structure.  Two lines of railings delimit the track, the inner rails enclosing a round pen for lunging or ground work, with its mechanism suspended from the barn’s roof, enabling to use the entire surface of the centre ring.

A stable is by far the least natural accommodation for a horse.  Hence, the size of a stable should be in accordance with that of the horse to enable it to move around and lie down without difficulty.

Stable blocks can be built in a U-shape or in a single line, depending on the space available and the number of stables required.  The stable-door opening enables the horse to look out and watch what’s going on.  The horse should be regularly turned out or worked, in order to preserve its equilibrium, thereby preventing the setting in of boredom and nervousness due to being constantly shut in.

Characteristics of the EQUINA riding schools

The school consists of a covered enclosure with a very sturdy self-supporting hot-galvanized metallic structure.

The periphery is delimited by rails mounted on a structure filled with vertical wooden planks (to provide greater resistance to knocks and kicks).

For the standard version, the upper ridge measures 3.20 m.  Should you require extra height, taller posts may be used, for which we shall be delighted to draw up a quote.

The stable-door range consists of single, double or sliding doors.

The optional upper half door serves to shut the horse up for the night or to isolate it, as necessary.

A full grill or a V-shaped detachable (option) anti-weave device may be fixed on top of the lower door, enabling the horse to put its head out.

The type of door will generally depend upon the use and space available, but also on the overall style of the yard.
 

Stable partitions enable to delimit bays dedicated to the various horse-care needs: shower, grooming, solarium, etc.

It is thus possible to set up different-sized stalls and configure the stable block according to specific needs.
